“No one knew how
we survived.”

On my way home from work, I picked up a friend to go out for dinner. On the old San Jacinto Bridge, we saw a truck swerve into our lane. I thought it was someone messing with a phone or radio. In a second he was headed straight for my truck. Then I wasn’t sure what happened, but I caught my breath and realized we had just been in a wreck. A full head-on collision. I saw a maroon truck parked right in front of mine, headlights to headlights. When I looked over at my passenger, I thought he was dead. He had many crushed bones, and his intestines were cut in several places. No one knew how we survived. It was a drunk driver who admitted to being on drugs as well.
